Peter says, “Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith.” My question is, how can the person you’re married to stand strong, when they have no faith? What’s going to keep them from jumping on you, cheating on you, or cursing you out? I know you’re thinking that the thing that should and would keep them from doing all the horrific stuff above would be the ”love” that they have for you. The problem is if they are not believers, they don’t possess the kind of love that only a relationship with Christ can foster.
Romans 5: 3-5 (NLT) -We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. 4 And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. 5 And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.
