"Our Father"
Have you ever really thought about the way Jesus
taught us to pray? He began by having us
say, “Our Father”. Why did He do
that? Well, perhaps He wanted us to
begin to think that way. If you think of
God as your father, you have a very special relationship. Fathers are in a way, like shepherds. They watch where we are going. They pick us up when we fall. They are careful about who we meet. (Sometimes
wolves come in sheep’s clothing). They
look for us if we get lost. They teach
us, lead us, guide us, are proud of us, love us unconditionally, and show us
how we are like them. When you talk to a
loving dad, you don’t have to beg, plead, or cry. Fathers naturally want what’s best for their
children. When we pray, we must remember
we’re not talking to a judge or to a stranger.
Just talk to Him and expect his help.
He WILL hear you and help you. It
may not be help in the way you want, but then, what father would do exactly
what you want if he knew it would be detrimental? He’ll be with you, help you, guide you around
trouble, or He’ll hold your hand and you’ll walk through the tough spots
together. After all, He’s your father
