“Thy
kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”
Jesus
was telling us first, that there is a kingdom.
Let’s let that settle in. What’s
a kingdom?, it’s a place with laws, with hierarchy, with royalty and with
subjects. The law of the land is set by
the ruler, the king and is followed by everyone else. Jesus is king of kings and Lord of Lords. He
sets the rules in heaven. In the next
sentence, he Is telling us that His will IS CURRENTLY BEING DONE IN HEAVEN. This part of the prayer is asking God to help
us do His will on earth as it is already being done in heaven. Then His kingdom will be evident. Remember Jesus said, “If you love me keep my
commandments.” John 14:20. (For the full
verse see 15-30 of John 14). Think of
it. God IS love. A world of love, ruled by love, covered in
love, expressing and exemplifying love at all times.
Thy
Kingdom Come oh God.
